Although the steady DVD position isn’t out as of the time I write this, the 4th season finished airing months ago and now since they have the page for pre-order up, I’ve been kinda itching to write a review.

Well as this season starts off from the 3rd season cliffhanger, it is definately off to an awesome inaugurate. Atlantis lost, adrift in area and running out of power. To conserve energy, they shrink the shield down to a puny fragment of the city and then what happens? …Atlantis runs into an asteroid belt! Then to rep more power, they actually raid the Asuran homeworld for ZPM’s using Dr. Weir! A very bright beginning.

While the majority of episodes are hits, such as the episode where a disease causes everyone to lose their memories(Tabula Rasa) or the one where Teal’c comes for a visit(Midway) ; there are some that descend short of their potential for giving more or are honest dumb expressionless! For example: the end-season cliffhanger! This is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed with an Atlantis cliffhanger, not leaving me anxiously interesting to inspect how they catch out of that residence, waiting for the next season. It ends with Sheppard and his team searching a building for Teyla, but it self-destructs and collapses in on them. (Zzzzzz…you know they survive it) A better plan to destroy the season would have been to leave Sheppard stranded 48,000 years in the future, revealing more about what happened in the galaxy in all that time and trying to figure out a plot to regain benefit home with the McKay hologram’s fresh thought failing to work! Now that sounds like one hell of a cliffhanger!

I reviewed season 3 as well, saying it gives potential for an awesome season 4. Does it live up to that potential? It comes stop, but unfortunately no it doesn’t. Why? It honest seems like the shows creators/writers aren’t willing to go all the plot in some of the episode’s stories. For that matter, I can’t figure out what direction the prove is headed in anymore; can you? (I choose the indicate IS going in some direction)

At least this time around they gave more attention to the Wraith and to Teyla. The whole record arc with the Athosian people being kidnapped and Teyla’s search for them, both expanded, and renewed some interest, in her character. In my season 3 review I also stated my approved character is McKay, but even I am starting to accumulate tired of seeing him so mighty in every episode.

Dr. Weir was officially lost this season, then killed, then…kinda came encourage? But fortunately we regained some primitive faces. Dr. Beckett (or at least a clone) came serve at an demolish of the season episode. And while I liked having Samantha Carter as the Atlantis commander, unbiased like Dr. Weir in season 3, they didn’t spend her character enough!

Which leads us to season 5. SPOILERS AHEAD! I’ve read various sources about what season 5 of Atlantis will have instore for us fans & veiwers, and most have been confirmed. The biggy for me being that Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) will NOT be support as Atlantis’ commander. (Due to the fact she’ll be staring in her absorb present, “Sanctuary”.) But she will approach aid for some guest appearances. Who’s replacing her? Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo)! I have completely mixed feelings about his character, but he definately doesn’t have what it takes to protest Atlantis! So unless he grows a pair and proves himself as something other than a cowering beaurocrat, this alone makes me perilous about season 5 as well as the future of the expose. Dr. Beckett and Dr. Daniel Jackson will guest star in some episodes, as well as 2 novel characters and an entirely current run being introduced.

Don’t rep me spoiled, I detached really like Atlantis and am going to come by the season 4 DVD once it’s released, but I must say this is the first time I am unsafe about how the next season will acquire shape, or if it will even be any valid? Let’s fair hope season 5 will expose me immoral!

The season 4 DVD spot itself will have the usual: commentaries, deleted scenes, etc. However, this will be the first Atlantis season DVD that will have a bloopers reel.

**UPDATE: Well, Season 4 came out today, I’ve got it and am watching it good now. Physical DVD-wise, the video and sound is level-headed gigantic like seasons 2 & 3. Packaging is the same as well. The menus are different from seasons 2 & 3 DVD’s, but are smooth cool-looking and are easy to navigate. (You don’t have to go through a lot of submenus to gain what you are looking for.) Hope this latest info helps anyone!

Surprisingly, season 4 of Stargate Atlantis is better than season 3–it is unbiased about on par with season 2. Most of the storylines are decent, with some very palatable ones; even with the mostly annoying characters, this season is tolerable.

Lt. Col. John Sheppard has deviated from his Jack O’Neill Jr. behavior, now becoming a standard yet spineless character; when faced with most women, he’s mild and weak-willed, barely standing up for himself–unlike his decisive attitude around men. Col. Samantha Carter, taking the set of Dr. Weir, is a apt and strong leader–at times, she is the only one to jabber up for the fair course of action. Dr. Rodney McKay, barely changing in the slightest, remains arrogant and smug; however, Carter can sometimes shut him up with a well-placed comment, which is quite satisfying. Teyla, although the victim of a sometimes pathetic state twist, is very faintly better than she was in season 3, sometimes offering up Athosian wisdom for those in need. Ronon is, in my idea, the best character in the show: he is on occasion the only person with well-liked sense, and also tells it exactly like it is.

As for the episodes:

Adrift–5 of 10–We grasp up where we left off in season 3, with the city floating in spot and losing power. The whole of this episode is spent on creating and solving jam upon problem: an asteroid belt threatens the city, as well as badly damaged power conduits and loss of shield protection. This goes on until it ends in a very unsatisfactory manner. I couldn’t back but consider that a better solution could have been found to the main, crippling plight of this episode.

Lifeline–7 of 10–Even with the abominable ending of `Adrift’, this episode finishes things up very nicely, with a mettlesome mission and courageous encourage from the wounded Dr. Weir. Rodney of course discovers something else that they could try to do while going through with their novel mission; I expected things to go from unpleasant to worse and their plans to fail, but thankfully everything went well, with the city actually surviving somewhat unscathed. This is a advantageous ending to a poor jam.

Reunion–8 of 10–Ronon stumbles upon three of his friends from Sateda (his home planet) and wonders whether he should leave Atlantis to halt with them. The Satedans are actually slightly dislikeable, being somewhat boorish and rough around the edges; they influence Ronon far too great at times, but they have an unpredictable secret that almost dooms Ronon. As with mostly all episodes focusing on Ronon, this is enjoyable–although it features some very unfamiliar fight scenes…

Doppelganger–4 of 10–Sheppard touches a crystalline object on an alien planet and soon appears in everyone’s nightmares. The opinion slack this episode is interesting; but throughout it, I was laughing! Unintentionally, it becomes more of a sad comedy instead of horrific and racy. Something about Sheppard being the villain in each and every nightmare is actually quite humorous.

Travelers–3 of 10–Sheppard is captured by a unusual ship and tries to flee while dealing with the ship’s stereotypically comely commander. This episode might actually outdo season 2’s `Grace Under Pressure’ in terms of being annoying. Larrin, the commander, is anything but military, even though she lives on her tattered ship; her hair is long and flowing, she wears tight dark leather, and she saunters through the corridors like a fashion model. When she gets what she wants, her attitude is predictably smug–when she doesn’t accumulate what she wants, she becomes pugnacious and petulant, at one point stomping her foot and hollering like a twelve-year-old. All in all, this is useless.

Tabula Rasa–9 of 10–In an amazingly great and intelligent episode, Rodney finds himself tied to his desk, with almost total memory loss, and outlandish instructions from a recording of himself. The explanation of the memory loss is logical and understandable; the adventures ensuing are keen and mysterious; the flashbacks to hours earlier are nice and enlightening; and it all serves to execute an episode I heartily enjoyed!

Missing–6 of 10–Teyla and Keller, traveling to use a day at the modern Athosian settlement, accumulate that the people are missing; they encounter the inappropriate Bola Kai tribesmen wandering the planet and must mask for panic of catch and death. In this episode, Keller at last shows her mettle–after whimpering and moaning for most of the time, she finds her inner courage and faces a unsafe enemy. The largest pickle with the episode, though, is that in all other season 3 and 4 episodes, I saw no mention of the Athosians being relocated to another planet. I have no thought when they got there!

The Seer–8 of 10–Still searching for the Athosians, Teyla seeks out a famed seer–the leader of a group of people on another planet–and finds that he knows distinguished about Atlantis’ future. Although the seer himself doesn’t have great to do, his visions predict quite a bit of peril for Atlantis; meanwhile, the team finds themselves inextricably linked with the Wraith in order to fight the Replicators. With the amount of adventures involved–and the very cramped amount of mistakes made–this episode is very obedient.

Miller’s Crossing–5 of 10–Rodney’s sister Jeannie is kidnapped and, in searching for her, Rodney stumbles into a trap. This episode gives Rodney and Jeannie a chance to argue and sulk, which they are both quite apt at. Fair as in season 3’s `McKay and Mrs. Miller’, the premise itself is not very sound; the decisions that Rodney, Jeannie, and even their kidnapper accomplish are foolish; as a plus, Jeannie decides to call Rodney by his actual name, Meredith, through the entire episode–even though he has already told her that he goes by the name of Rodney. Like before, this is rather worthless.

This Mortal Coil–9 of 10–After a exclusive drone from an unknown source crashes into the city, the denizens of Atlantis slowly open to realize that there’s something original going on. At the beginning, this episode is a game of `what’s bad with this narrate? ‘ Once the truth is finally known–shocking not only the team, but myself as well–the team must work to avert pains and provide aid…but those who need wait on are the most unlikely of people!

Be All My Sins Remember’d–7 of 10–Since the Replicators are attacking more and more planets, the team decides to decide things once and for all. Larrin, clichéd commander of the Traveler warship, gets an appearance; when Sheppard comes to her–virtually groveling for her succor instead of candidly asking for it–she decides to tie him to a chair (apparently a running gag) . What’s nice is that Col. Ellis, commander of the Apollo, finally manages to give Rodney a share of his mind before they all go off to fight the Replicators. In the demolish, though a unique and ugly enemy is revealed to us in the audience, although the team knows nothing of them.

Spoils of War–7 of 10–The team, led by a signal from Todd’s subspace tracking map, stumbles on a top secret Wraith outpost, where they will fetch many threats. Teyla finally gets a chance to aid out, with as grand courage as ever, while Sheppard, Rodney, and Ronon ogle the facility. A Wraith queen is spotlighted and gets to relate and spit in the usual over-the-top manner. Although this episode is contrived in spots, it smooth is somewhat decent.

Quarantine–6 of 10–After the city mistakenly quarantines itself, many of the main characters gain themselves trapped together, giving them a chance to learn more about each other. We bag that Dr. Zelenka raises pigeons; Dr. Keller graduated from college at age 15; and other assorted dinky tidbits. Rodney is of course featured prominently in this episode, as he is in almost all of them. The extremely superb piece about this episode is that Dr. Zelenka finally gets a chance to do something friendly for the entire city. Otherwise, it’s the usual, mediocre at best.

Harmony–4 of 10–Sheppard and Rodney agree to shepherd a young princess on a rite of passage; in a reverse of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s `The Dauphin’, the girl–who bears the Earth name Harmony–develops a crush on Sheppard. This results in her acting somewhat like The Lord of the Rings’ Gollum, pretending to yowl in Sheppard’s arms while smirking at Rodney instead. She is the classic spoiled-brat child, not caring whether Sheppard or Rodney survive their mission, and explaining her actions with the words “I’m the queen!” Throughout most of the episode, I could discover all the major events coming easily. This is a light, very faintly comedic episode that is worth seeing only once.

Outcast–6 of 10–Sheppard’s father dies and he comes home to Earth for the funeral, but then finds himself in worthy deeper pains than he expected. His polished brother wears a like suit and has perfectly coiffed hair; his ex-wife, even with her nightclub-style outfit, works implausibly for the Department of Homeland Security; strangely, Sheppard finds himself at a complete loss for words every time he encounters either of them. Otherwise, the main storyline–featuring Replicators, as well as an unexpected appearance by a worn supporting character from season 1–is decent at the very least. Of course, there are some anecdote points that I can peep coming…but then again, that’s honest for almost all the episodes.

Trio–8 of 10–Carter, Rodney, and Keller are trapped in a venerable Genii mine that is racked by tremors. Thankfully, Rodney doesn’t pick up to prove great of his very annoying tendencies in this episode, although contributing an concept on how to escape; Carter and Keller also do their separate parts, trying to acquire out before the tremors raze the mine. While this is the standard `a spot arises, and most attempts to solve it fail miserably’ episode, it manages to be gripping because of the interaction between the three characters. All three of them note themselves by arrangement of doughty actions.

Midway–10 of 10–With Ronon about to be evaluated by the IOA, Carter decides that Teal’c could utter the Satedan distinguished. However, when times grow tough, Ronon and Teal’c must work together to put Earth. This is by far the best episode of season 4, featuring a ample crossover and unsightly problems. There is a substantial (and regrettably short) fight scene between Ronon and Teal’c, featuring Chuck the gate technician taking bets on who will net. Even with the tribulations, the two warriors work well together; however, in the meantime, Sheppard and Rodney rep themselves in equal grief. I treasure this episode not only because of Teal’c, but also because of the enthralling and plausible spot. If only every Atlantis episode had the astonishing writing this one does!

The Kindred, Portion 1–6 of 10–In a slightly intriguing decline from `Midway’, Teyla finds herself having visions of Kanaan, the father of her child, and feels that she must search at a determined village. In the meantime, a sudden plague is sweeping through the galaxy. Almost everything in this episode results in disaster; Teyla–while searching for her people–is captured, and Sheppard and the other team members secure that a familiar and annoying villain is leisurely the plague. Todd, the jolly Wraith, gives them little befriend and asks for it in return, but in the kill his information does them no safe. The very last moment of the episode features a surprising return from a much-beloved character…

The Kindred, Fragment 2–7 of 10–While Teyla finds her people again, Sheppard and friends try to glean her with the succor of the newly returned character (whose identity I will not relate) . That person has quite a few health problems, which lessen his/her ability to help; in the meantime, Teyla learns more about the experiments being performed on some of her people. In the ruin, information is gathered and the Athosians are rescued, but Teyla remains a prisoner. Even though the villain in this two-part episode now has the usual mad-scientist qualities, this episode is far from awful. The waste is tragic as the returned character takes his/her leave from his/her friends. Not terrible!

The Last Man–7 of 10–Sheppard comes through the gate and finds that he’s been sent 48,000 years in the future; naturally, Rodney–once Sheppard went missing–came up with a hologram of himself that is programmed to assist Sheppard in any map possible. Most of the episode is taken up by reminisces of events taking space after Sheppard vanished–there are many things that go atrocious, such as Michael predictably trying to choose over the galaxy. While Sheppard tries to procure a diagram out of the future, the hologram of older Rodney tells him stories of Ronon, Carter, Teyla, Keller and Rodney himself too. This episode is expedient because of its similarities to the Star Trek: Voyager series finale, but unfortunately the ending is rushed.

How could a movie fanatic go atrocious with this one? Sidney Pollack directing, with Francis Ford Coppola helping out with the adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play? A vast cast, with especially memorable performances from Natalie Wood, Kate Reid and Mary Badham (as younger sister, Willie Starr)? Roberts Redford and Blake and Charles Bronson thrown in for lagniappe? Sounds like colossal gumbo to me.

Natalie Wood is absolutely alluring in this one. She and Redford, who also teamed together in the memorable INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, did indeed appear to have a lot of veil chemistry. He is the cynical company man who appears like the Grim Reaper in a microscopic, shabby, depression-era southern town, carrying pink slips with him, instead of a scythe. The role has a lot of resonance now, what with all the corporate downsizing currently going on. Needless to say, the townfolk don’t considerable cotton to Mr Owen Legate, with his love suit and self-assured ways.

With a couple valuable exceptions. Tom boyish Willie Starr is taken by him fair away and the small her vast sister Alma sets eyes on him, she’s putty. Wood’s expression in that initial examine is section of film history.

Owen further antagonizes the townfolk because they behold that Alma has taken a shine to an outsider. Alma’s been something of a tramp up this point, givining it up to varying degrees to most of the men in the town. Several of them, including an weak geezer with an invilid wife, have been fantazising about further adventures with Alma. And Alma’s mother is upset with Owen, because she sees that he is going to pick away her gravy protest. Hazel Starr is one of Williams’ grand eccentric female characters, and perhaps his most unctuous (though Amanda Wingfield, in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, is no prize, either. Kate Reid is perfect in the role. This, to me is her most memorable performance, followed closely by her title role in AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A Miniature, which unfortunatley appears to be impossible to fetch. It’s hard to fill she never won an Oscar or a Tony.

This was only the second feature film that Pollock directed. He of course went on to grand things with such films as THEY SHOOT HORSES DON’T THEY and TOOTSIE. He and Cinematographer James Wong Howe do a colossal job of capturing diminutive southern town lethargy, as well as 30’s Unique Orleans ambience. The print, unfortunately, could definitely consume a pudgy restoration. It’s former noticeably over time. The film certainly warrants the extra work. Yet time cannot wither Natalie Wood. She’s mild one of the most attractive women a camera ever made worship to. This film definitely belongs reach the top of the list for conceal adaptations of Williams’ plays.

BEK

When I first saw this film, as a preteen, I plan it was the ultimate romance. Well, I got older … and saw it again. And it’s calm exquisite romantic. In fact, it’s smooth a film I spy over and over.

Buy,Download, Or Stream This Property Is Condemned! Click Here

The performances are really juicy. Everyone in it seems to understand the over-the-top quality of Tennessee Williams, and no one disappoints. You’ll accept Charles Bronson and a very young Robert Blake in supporting roles here. Both Kate Reid, as Wood’s driving, ambitious `Mama’ using her gorgeous daughter to hook the town’s men, and Mary Badham, as `Willie’, the not-so-beautiful younger sister who idolizes Wood, are quite simply righteous. Every go, every gaze from both are truly sublime.

Natalie Wood has always been one of my common stars, and she is every fling the star in this one. It’s determined from her first closeup how special, how different, and how gripping Alva Starr is to everyone she comes in contact with. She meets her match in Robert Redford, the man who has no dreams, who sees her in unvarnished murky and white but comes to devour her need to color life … in fact, realizes he can’t live without it when he’s separated from her.

Is it tremendous drama? No. But it’s beautiful soap opera. The best soap opera, the most memorable Southern soap opera, you’re likely to score. These people have true problems, proper needs, and they’re beautifully drawn by the screenwriters (thank you, Francis Coppola, among others) and by the actors who play them. We’re given a lot of time to know them and care about them, and we do care, very mighty.

It’s one of my current guilty pleasures, and I ask I’ll preserve watching it for years to approach. Don’t miss it.

Most of us connect the thought of “home” or “childhood home” with one particular area, that innocent paradise we have since had to give up and sustain searching for forever after. In Ruth Wilcox’s world, Howards Extinguish is that place; the countryside house where she was born, where her family often returns to utilize their vacations, and which, everyone assumes, will pass on to her children when she is dumb.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Howards End! Click Here

And it is through Ruth Wilcox (Vanessa Redgrave) ’s eyes that we first gaze Howards End; approaching the house after an evening wander through her beloved meadow, her long dress trailing in the grass, as she goes nearer, we notice the originate windows letting out warm light from inside, and hear the voices and laughter from the family’s dinner table. And while Mrs. Wilcox returns to join her family’s company, two others are leaving the house and its unruffled world: Helen Schlegel (Helena Bonham Carter) and Paul Wilcox, embarking on a passionate romance which is not even to survive the next morning - not before, however, Helen has informed her sister Margaret (Emma Thompson) that she and Paul are “in adore,” and thus place in motion the first of a series of confusing and controversial meetings between their families.

While both families belong to the middle class, they are nevertheless separated by several layers of society and politics - the Wilcox, led by pater familias/businessman Henry (Anthony Hopkins), rich, conservative and without any sympathy whatsoever for those less fortunate than themselves (”It’s all allotment of the battle of life … The abominable are poor; one is sorry for them, but there it is,” Henry Wilcox once comments) ; the Schlegels, on the other hand, with unprejudiced enough income to lead a comfortable life, brought up by their Aunt Juley (Prunella Scales), supporting suffrage (women’s just to vote) and surrounding themselves with actors, “blue-stockings” (feminists), intellectuals and other members of the avantgarde. Further complexity is added when Helen brings to the Schlegel home Leonard Bast (Samuel West), a dreadful but idealistic young clerk who loves music, literature and astronomy - and with him, his working class wife Jacky (Nicola Duffett), the embarrassment of having to interact with her, and the even more embarrassing revelation she has in store for Henry Wilcox; eventually leaving her disillusioned husband to comment that “books aren’t precise,” and that in fact they and music “are for the rich so they don’t feel abominable after dinner.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Howards End! Click Here

An allegory on the inquire of who will ultimately inherit England - the likes of the Wilcox, the Schlegels, or the Basts - E.M. Forster’s current on which this movie is based is a masterpiece of social observe and character spy alike: with empathy and a pleasing witness for detail, Forster brings his protagonists and their environment to life, and James Ivory matches his accomplishment in this mask realization, finding the perfect cast and production execute (Luciana Arrighi) to reproduce the novel’s Edwardian society; although he superstitiously declined the offer to film at Forster’s boyhood home Rooks Nest, the model for the fictional Howards Kill. The movie brings together many of Britain’s best-known actors, all trained in the English school which, as Anthony Hopkins once explained, unlike Lee Strasberg’s Scheme Acting, is primarily based on restraint: there are no outbursts of emotion, self-control reigns supreme, and even a simple word like “yes” is reduced even further to “hmm,” leaving it to the actor’s intonation alone to recount the word’s (or sound’s) deeper meaning in a given context. And yet, vocal intonation, looks and diminutive gestures often dispute louder than dramatic actions ever could, and they are as valuable to the movie’s sense of authenticity as are production manufacture, cinematography (Tony Pierce-Roberts), soundtrack (Richard Robbins) and the selection of the movie’s non-scored music: excerpts from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, a common with the “educated” Edwardian middle class, and pieces by period composers Andre Derain and Percy Grainger.

The anecdote centers around Margaret (Meg) Schlegel, who is “filled with … a profound vivacity, a continual and real response to all that she encounter[s] in her path through life,” as Forster described her, and portrayed to perfection by Emma Thompson. Meg’s friendship with Ruth Wilcox brings the families relieve together after Helen’s near-scandalous episode with Paul; and the two women become so stop that Ruth eventually decides to give Meg “something worth [her] friendship” - none other than Howards Waste, a wish that has her panicking family swagger ungentlemanly for every reason in the book to invalidate the codicil setting forth that bestowal, from its lacking date and signature to the testatrix’s spot of mind, the ambiguity of the writing’s boom, the inquire of why Meg should want the house in the first area since she already has one, and the fact that the writing is only in pencil, which “never counts,” as Dolly, wife of the Wilcox’ elder son Charles is posthaste to point out, only to be reprimanded by her father in law “from out of his fortress” (Forster) not to “interfere with what you do not understand.” And so it is that Meg will only stare the house (and be instantly erroneous for Ruth because she has “her plot of walking around the house,” as the housekeeper explains) when she and her siblings have to leer for a current home and Henry Wilcox, who has started to court her after Ruth’s death, suggests that the Schlegel’s furniture be temporarily stored there - a fateful decision. And while Meg and Henry slowly and painfully learn to adjust to each other, the complexity of their families’ relations, and their interactions with the Basts, finally near crashing down on them in a dramatic conclusion.

Howards Waste deservedly won 1992’s Academy Awards for Best Actress (Thompson), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Art Direction; and it was also nominated in the Best Narrate, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress (Redgrave), Best Unique Win, Best Cinematography and Best Costume Perform categories. Unfortunately, its subtle tones have recently been muted somewhat by the louder sounds now filling movie theaters. I for one, however, will choose this sublime movie over any summer action flick anytime.

Every review I’ve read has been quasi-negative but not being one to listen to critics, I took a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised. Depending on why you go to a movie, you may not like this because it is not escapism. It deals with steady life issues and things most of us can recount to. I found the movie to be very refreshing and all the characters dependable to life. The main character is a single mom trying to raise a precocious son. She has to deal with a dead-end relationship and an aging father, an irresponsible sister and a job she hates. How she copes and what she does is more believable than most of the “chick flick” films out today. I judge this is one of the better movies in a sea of fluff to exercise time and money on. Amy Adams is amazing and it is always refreshing to notice Alan Arkin. Please don’t dismiss this film because of iffy reviews. It is worth going to search for.

A very toothsome quirky film which is after alot more then fleet easy laughs. This film gets heavenly serious at times and what an delightful lope it is made easier by the stellar cast. Amy Adams as Rose and her sister Norah, Emily Blunt, tend to Rose’s 7 year ancient son, Oscar and their acquire cleaning business they are starting. This is no ordinary cleaning business but a crime scene elegant up after the bodies have been moved and evidence secured and all that remains are the blood and the remanants of the deceased’s life. What I loved about this film is the humanity of the characters, valid people, true problems and dependable situations that have you pulling for them even as you shake your head at their mistakes. Alan Arkin is a joy as the cranky, scheming father of Rose and Norah, he is at a position as an actor that he brings so worthy of what you quiz from him as an actor while also bringing such subtle differences to all his characters that you never feel you’re seeing the same character you might’ve seen in another movie. Amy Adams is a shimmering revelation of eternal optimism and she has you pulling for her as she tries gain over her enjoy demons. Emily Blunt and Jason Spevak as Oscar are wonderfully comic and true. There is a actual honesty amidst some outrageously amusing stuff that never panders or lectures and never cheats the audience. I only felt cheated at the demolish when the movie ended. I wasn’t ready to leave this family leisurely and wanted to live with them a miniature longer. That is a noble thing when a movie leaves you wanting more.

This DVD also teaches about vowels and consonants, so he’s learning how the vowels are sticky like glue, holding words together (thanks to Professor Quigley’s Sticky-Ick-O-Rama machine!) . The Word Whammer machine shows children how to build the consonants and vowels together, and how they sound. I like the fact that they’ll switch around the vowels with the same beginning and ending consonants, to highlight how a vowel sounds within a word.

Talking Words Factory also teaches rhyming, which is a bonus.

Highly recommended!

I have never felt strong enough to actually occupy the time to write a review. I am a certified k-6 teacher who has told everyone I know about Leap Frog’s 4 fabulous movie and now I am telling you…

LF Letter Factory: This was the first (out of 4) Leap Frog Movie that my children watched. My 3 1/2 year old-fashioned and 2 years 2 month worn boys are allowed to observe 1 movie a day. Each Day they agreed, in excitement, to watched this movie. Under a week my 3 1/2 year frail knew his letter sounds. He could explain the letter sound song almost as quick as he could insist the alphabet. After a week, he amazed us when he sat down on the ground and wrote out the entire alphabet like a 4th grader. Had NO opinion he could write like this! Shortly thereafter, the 2 year stale knew all his letter sounds and letter recognition.

Talking Words Factory: I was so impressed that I bought them the Talking Words Factory that 2nd week. I wasn’t surprised that my 3 1/2 year used began to spell, writing, and sounding out 3 letter words. He told me all about how the vowels were all sticky and their job was to stick letters together to form words. He went around singing the vowel song.

My kids loved the videos so powerful that for 10 months…My son’s (who feeble to play with Thomas the Trains and puppies) were obsessed with letters and words. They made their absorb letter and word factory machines out of their toys and tubs, drew each letter cartoon character, and sang the letter and vowel songs, and the older one wrote, yes wrote, many of his possess homemade books.

Talking Word Factory 2: It doesn’t terminate there…They got the Talking Word Factory 2 and Math Circus when they came out this Christmas. In a couple of days, the now 4 year broken-down, was telling me all about sh, ch, th, and other blends. He told me how the peaceful e at the destroy of the word made the other vowel say its name (long vowel sound) . He went on to jabber me also how “when 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking.” And he wrote and read modern complex words such as, boat, home, dime, wait, etc. This really increased his ability to read many, many fresh words - 8 letter words too!

Math Circus: They loved it too! Though it is quick gripping for beginners, it is inviting and has an easy conception. Adding and subtracting now comes beautiful easy for my 4 year outmoded. I gave him a math work sheet for addition and subtraction impartial for kicks. Wouldn’t you know it, he did all of them with no scrape. He was so fervent in adding that he started asking about problems such as 3 + 3 + 3. Which helped him learn the understanding of multiplication 3 x 3, 3 x 4, etc. But, we told him that he had plenty of time to learn that later!

The only negative comments that I have to say about these Leap Frog videos: Nothing, Oh, except that I wish my children weren’t so obsessed with letters! They eat, breath, and sleep letters. Sometimes I objective wish they would play with the trains, cars, and other toys. They will have their entire school life to learn about letters and reading! I objective hope that when the time comes for school that they won’t have grown board of it!

Other Leap Frog learning tools that reinforce what they learned on the videos:

LF Fridge Phonics Magnets - Worship it. It sings each letters song when you keep the letter in the hole.

LF Word Whammer Fridge Phonics Space - LF unbiased came out with this. I know that they will admire. I bought it for the next birthday! It is like the Fridge Phonics, but you can spell 3 letter words.

LF Letter Factory Board Game - Esteem it too! It is interactive and the board game talks and sings!

LF Dispute Along Letters Flash Cards & CD - Songs from the DVDs. Not that you don’t hear the songs sang enough from your children!

Wish they would obtain computer CD’s too!

LF Leap Pad - Fun but they got board with the same books over & over. $14 a book!

There are many others, but I had to plot the line somewhere!

If you check all the other reviews, I am not alone. Only two out of 121 people gave this movie less than 5 stars! It is about time someone made a movie that parents and children both agree on! Thank you Leap Frog!

This movie is reminiscent of classic comedies of the 60’s. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have fantastic chemistry, but so many laughable moments you will laugh out loud. Goldie learning how to be a homemaker is priceless, and she does the physical comedy so well. This movie flows continuously from beginning to extinguish. It does not pace in any fragment. It is a keeper, and a well-behaved addition to any collection.

No matter how many times I eye this movie (and own me, I’ve watched it many, many, many times) it’s always scrumptious. Goldie Hawn stars as Joanna Stayton, an incrediblly rich, incredibly bored and incredibly bitchy woman with nothing left to do while her yacht is docked at a microscopic coastal Oregon town called Elk’s Cove but to hire a carpenter named Dean Proffitt (Kurt Russell, gotta like him) to remodel her closet. But when the job isn’t done to her satisfaction, he winds up overboard along with all his tools. He vows to net revenge on her and the opportunity presents itself when Joanne falls overboard in the middle of the night and is later discovered by a crew of Portuguese men on a garbage barge. But Joanna has amnesia and can’t remember who she is. And her husband Grant is all to gratified to pretend he doesn’t know her and leave her in the hospital. But when Dean sees the “amnesia lady” on the news, he recognizes Joanna and hatches a understanding to regain revenge and derive the money she owes him. But neither one expects to drop in savor with the other. Overboard is a fun and comic movie that also teaches us the lesson that money doesn’t hold us complete happiness. It can for you though if you recall Overboard because it’s worth watching hundreds of times over. I like it! Appreciate!

Four items create this a must-have. The first is Josh Groban singing the classic “Anthem”, where, as the Russian chess champion, Anatoly, he avows his savor for his homeland. As Anatoly’s discarded wife, Svetlana, the fabulous Kerry Ellis totally nails “Someone Else’s Yarn.” There’s “The Narrative of Chess”, where the Chorus acquire Tim Rice’s witty lift on the evolution of the game. Finally, the Quartet, where Florence (Idina Menzel), Anatoly, his minder Molokov and the Arbiter deplore how chess has sunk from “a model of decorum and tranquillity” to “a battleground for rival ideologies to slug it out with glee.”

Having seen the modern London West Raze production in 1986 with Elaine Paige, I was lucky enough to discover this kindly 21st Anniversary production in the Royal Albert Hall, London, last year. Tim Rice has tightened up the space of appreciate and betrayal played out in the setting of chess championships in the Icy War. Florence, who manages the American champion, falls for the Russian; complications - political, ethical, personal - ensue. From the moment the outstanding Chorus bursts into “Merano” - blending chess with commercialism as a exiguous Central European town prepares to welcome the world - moral to the devastating “Endgame” and final twist, the dramatic slouch never lets up.

In this DVD, hopefully the sound difficulties of this production will have been ironed out. As to the cast - they were extraordinary!! Groban is a revelation: a vivid actor as well as singer. Kerry Ellis was a showstopper. As Florence, Idina Menzel, (so suitable in Foul (2003 New Broadway Cast), was too strident for my taste, lacking subtlety and roundness in acting. (”Heaven Relieve My Heart” doesn’t register, and “Nobody’s Side” pales away.) However, her “You and I” with Groban unruffled tugs the heartstrings: “we go on pretending / Stories like ours Have overjoyed endings.”

The amazing David Bedella (Jerry Springer: the Opera), makes a stout, snide Molokov. And Adam Pascal gives his charismatic ALL as Freddy, the tormented American bearing luggage from the past: “Pity the Child.” Marti Pellow (of pop group Wet Wet Wet) was a disappointment as the Arbiter, a minute under-performed I felt.

Rice’s lyrics are trenchant, tender, luminous, witty. The music, by Benny and Bjorn of ABBA, is a perfect rock collect, conveying all the emotions and tensions notable and fully matching the lyrics.

In the main, this is a grand production of a classic and underestimated musical.

I’ve heard of “Chess” but never got around to seeing a live production or listening to a soundtrack. As an ABBA fan I was always gripping what kind of musical Benny and Bjorn would construct since their ABBA pop-rock tunes were so improbable. Then PBS announced a special concert version of “Chess” featuring Josh Groban, Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal. So I watched it….

Wow! “Chess In Concert” really looked and sounded impressive. The only thing was I had effort with the diction. I had to build the captions on to truly understand what was happening on stage. Once I got to opinion the lyrics with the vocals I was very impressed and kinda blown away by it all.

I’m not a “Grobanite” but I have to admit that Josh Groban (Anatoly) did a kindly job both vocally and dramatically. Adam Pascal (Frederick) never disappoints me. I could listen to his raspy rock notify all day long. Same with Idina Menzel (Florence) . No, I’m not a “Grobanite” but this “Renthead” was very tickled to examine the fresh Maureen and Roger part the stage again.

I also liked Kerry Ellis as Anatoly’s wife, Svetlana. Ellis has a really well-kept insist that seems to be very sweet but with a touch of edginess (and what an irony that both Menzel and Ellis played the role of Elphaba in “Irascible”) . The cast had a nice mix of classical operatic voices and rock opera wailers. The come by is the same method with a blending of ballads, anthems, and toe tapping dance tracks.

Aside from the lavish staging (including a titanic on-stage orchestra and a microscopic army of choir singers), the noteworthy vocals and the dramatic catch the chronicle of “Chess In Concert” was easier to follow than I concept it would be. It’s your basic treasure triangle scenario with Frederick losing his partner, Florence, to Anatoly except that Anatoly is already married with kids. Then things net more complicated because of politics, greed and chess tournaments.

Overall, even if you don’t acquire “Chess In Concert” then you should at least rent this or pick up it on public television because this is a sensational performance by a broad assortment of talented singers and dancers. One design you can identify a suitable musical is if you’re caught humming the tunes after the exhibit is done. I’ve got at least five on my mental IPOD as we bellow (The Arbiter, Nobody’s On Nobody’s Side, Pity The Child, One Night In Bangkok, I Know Him So Well) . “Chess In Concert” is capable.

Who is Godzilla’s greatest enemy? While some may vote for the three-headed King Ghidora or the soaring Mothra, to me that honor will always rest on MechaGodzilla, the star of no less than five Godzilla films, more than any other monster. Here, in the 1974 “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla,” we have the first appearance of that mechanical menace.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla! Click Here

Filmed as a 20th anniversary celebration of Japan’s most well-known monster, “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla” is a bloody and violent entry in the Godzilla series, with MechaGodzilla being a merciless killer, tearing the dinosaur-like Angirasu’s jaw in half in the opening battle scene, then stomping off with bloody hands. The vanguard of an invasion, and controlled by a clan of ape-faced aliens from outer status, MechaGodzilla rampages throughout the gloomy island nation of Japan, and Godzilla is powerless to halt him. In order to halt the mechanical alarm, an faded, sleeping deity, King Seesar, is awakened and brought into the fray. Together, Godzilla and King Seesar withstand the assault of missiles, ray blasts, and a host of other weapons in the arsenal of MechaGodzilla.

If you like Godzilla films, than you fair distinguished know what you are getting yourself into. Spacious stompy fun, with giant monsters treading on toy tanks and beating the heck out of each other. “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla” has all of these dilapidated delights, with a bit of a harder, more violent edge than the more-campy releases. It is detached vivid, Sunday morning fun.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla! Click Here

This DVD release is one of the best available Godzilla flicks on the US market, but unexcited not complete. The Japanese language track is included, which is an absolute must. This is an 85 miniature version, rather than the burly 97 minutes of the Japanese release. However, it is ample to the modern US “Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster” version, which ran 80 minutes.

This movie has everything a beneficial Godzilla movie should have–monsters, fights, spies, scientists, aliens, the works. You don’t even have to wait until the waste of the movie to peruse a fight because the action starts early in this one. First, an mature cave is discovered with mysterious artwork on the walls and a unusual statue in a cleft, and a young woman has a prophecy that a monster will approach to demolish the earth. As if on cue, Godzilla pops up, but he is immediately attacked by Anguiras. Honest away, you know something’s fishy because Anguiras is Godzilla’s sidekick. This Godzilla is ruthless, and I am tranquil upset about the injury abominable Anguiras receives at his hand. Before long, Godzilla shows up, the two Godzillas fight and the impostor is exposed as a cyborg. Godzilla takes a gorgeous grand beating and disappears, but MechaGodzilla is also forced to retreat and observe repair. Aliens are controlling MechaGodzilla, but they need the befriend of a smart Japanese scientist to form the principal repairs. They consume the scientist and coerce him into helping them. Meanwhile, the estimable guys are running around trying to figure out the meaning of the odd statue found at the open of the movie. They net out that King Seesar, a guardian monster of sorts on Okinawa, is portrayed on the statue, so they must urge to awaken Seesar to fight MechaGodzilla because they do not know if Godzilla is composed alive.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla! Click Here

The battles in this movie are quite valid. MechaGodzilla has everything but the kitchen sink in his arsenal, and he even flies. King Seesar is a cramped queer, basically looking like a giant dog of some sort mixed with who knows what. The explosions, laser weapons, fiery breath, and general mayhem are very proper, and many models are blown to bits. One of my current parts, though, is the song that is sung to awaken King Seesar–I have no understanding what the words mean, but it is a big song I sometimes listen to fair by itself. Interestingly enough, I bewitch the song is in Japanese, yet it is smooth dubbed (and rather badly in places) .

In conclusion, this is easily one of the best movies in the current Godzilla series. If you don’t luxuriate in this one, you almost surely won’t delight in any of the others, so this is a first-rate litmus test for Godzilla newbies.

Stanley Kramer’s IT’S A Excited, Wrathful, Wrathful, Furious WORLD (1963, UA) is my approved comedy of the sound era and the most fondly remembered movie of my 1960’s childhood in the San Francisco Bay Space. It has a sunny and airy mood, the comedy cast of a lifetime, bright and hilarious dialogue, an irrestible greed position, a melodic music procure by Ernest Gold, and aroused pacing for almost, or objective over, three hours (depending on what version you are watching) . The more I peruse it on DVD at 161 minutes or at 182 minutes on Turner Classic Movies, the more I like it and want to spy the long-lost 192 dinky Cinerama world premiere version.

Buy,Download, Or Stream It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! Click Here

MAD WORLD does something upright that every other movie of its type gets wrong–it starts a whisk status in reel one, then develops character outward as we go along. It does not consume 45 minutes setting up the anecdote, as similar movies do. In the opening scene, a dying millionaire (Jimmy Durante) tells a group of people in the Southern California desert that a astronomical sum of money is buried “under a titanic W” in a park south of San Diego. Mickey Rooney and Buddy Hackett are gag writers headed for Las Vegas. Milton Berle is headed for a vacation with wife Dorothy Provine and Ethel Herman as the mother-in-law to beat all mothers-in-law. Sid Caesar and Edie Adams are a dentist and his wife. And Jonathan Winters is driving a van of furniture. Monitoring all of them, as they speed after the money, is Spencer Tracy as the coastal city (a compilation of Long Beach and Santa Monica) police captain with a wall arrangement.

So we have a slapstick budge movie to kill all slapstick inch movies. (WARNING: Place SPOILERS AHEAD!!) Heading a golden age of television cast are Caesar and Adams, who regain to waft in a makeshift plane, then earn locked in a hardware store basement. In a career performance, Winters hilariously gets to completely crash a desert gas location. Berle has a running battle with the mother-in-law from Hell, Merman, who in turn has been given some gloriously acidic dialogue by respectable sreenwriters William and Tania Rose. The Roses have never been given enough credit here. All of the sublime dialogue is on the printed page. Along the device, Winters meets up with Phil Silvers, who in turn mixes up with miner Mike Mazurki. Silvers is staggeringly silly with a car at the bottom of a canyon, then later drowning in a river. Rooney and Hackett are in another plane that flies through a Coke billboard after pilot Jim Backus knocks himself unconscious. There is also Dick Shawn as Merman’s lifeguard son at Silver Strand Beach. And a phone running battle in his inner police office with Tracy and his wife and daughter that escalates over a simple vacation. And this is only fragment one, before the film’s intermission! Share two has some of the funniest dialogue and greatest car chases in all of movie history for me. And the large climax has never been topped for me–not even by restful era clowns.

Buy,Download, Or Stream It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! Click Here

MAD WORLD got mixed reviews when it opened city by city in slow 1963, accurate before President Kennedy’s tragic death in Dallas. The distinct ones praised a extraordinary cast and hilarious streak area. The negative reviews said it was too long and repetitious at 193 minutes. So producer/director Kramer and his editors carefully chop the Cinerama world premiere version, two months into its race, to 162 minutes. It played in 70mm Cinerama engaggements at 162 minutes until 35mm engagements in Spring 1965. It was further slash then to 154 minutes with roadshow music and intermission removed. All 35mm prints today–and since 1965–run 154 minutes. The DVD, which may or may not aloof be for sale, restores roadshow music and runs 161 minutes. At an aspect ratio of 2.55, it also blessedly comes end to restoring the ultra-wide widescreen images of the modern film. Maddeningly, though, this 161 small DVD print is curiously missing the Oscar-nominated title song overture.

But there is also a 182 petite print of Wrathful WORLD (!), restored by my dear filmmaker friend Paul Scrabo, MGM executives, and a dying Kramer in 1991. That is the version that hit VHS and laserdisc in 1991 with a elegant hour-long documentary that I wish could be seen nowadays. It briefly surfaced on one DVD edition, then removed from another that has no bonus material. (So we have two different 161 runt DVD prints that may both be on moratorium! One with a lot of bonuses and one with none. It’s a angry, excited, excited, enraged world!) Anyway, the 1991 documentary combines behind-the-scenes filmmaking with cast/crew reminiscences. Almost everyone recalls a lot of hard work in desert heat, but also a heck of a lot of slapstick fun. One other thing I admire about the movie is that the Southern California desert landscapes are deserted for miles–no other cars and no homes, unprejudiced an occasional truck and gas position.

For 22 years, Paul and I and others have been on a futile quest to restore IT’S A Exasperated, Angry, Exasperated, Enraged WORLD relieve to its unique 192 cramped Cinerama world premiere length. The closest we have near is the 182 little reconstruction on home video and cable TV, and it includes preview material. So we are smooth missing at least ten minutes of crucial visual material and as distinguished as fifteen minutes. Included in the collected lost material (I have the complete script–I mediate) are Shawn stealing his married girlfriend’s (!) convertible, more of Buster Keaton’s cameo as a crook, getting Jim Backus INTO a shower he subsequently is removed from, the identity of a queer man in the police location (he is a police reporter told to sit on the tale for now), Tracy learning who Silvers is (an unemployed piano player and gambler), and the beginning of almost all the police office scenes. Novel prints, including the 182, join them in progress.

There are easy-to-find Internet articles on Stanley Kramer’s immortal masterpiece that claim the expansive Robert Harris and James Katz, who restored VERTIGO and MY Glowing LADY among others, want to reconstruct Aroused WORLD. My Internet sources claim Harris has in his possession “188 minutes of bona fide world premiere footage.” Only four minutes missing off the unusual 192 puny print–close enough for me! The Internet claims further that Harris objective is waiting for a $2 million retract order–lunch money in today’s Hollywood–to do the work that needs to be done to restore this astonishing movie attend to the length it ran when it opened in Los Angeles on November 7, 1963; the version that early in 1964 got six Oscar nominations.

We owe it to the memory of a grand filmmaker and a splendid cast, many peaceful very remarkable alive, to reconstruct and restore IT’S A Indignant, Angry, Furious, Furious WORLD from 154 or 161 minutes to 192 minutes for theatrical re-release (it has always been an audience approved) and letterboxed 2.76 ratio home video sales. It is a precious fraction of our cinematic and cultural heritage. THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE 161 Little DVD and 182 Microscopic CABLE TV PRINTS.

It’s a Enraged, Indignant, Indignant, Exasperated World is a classic comedy. Combining spacious name talent, it tells the memoir of what happen when a group of strangers finds out where $50,000 is buried. Soon, these normally law-abiding citizens are speeding, stealing, and destroying property. What they don’t know is the police are observing them the entire time. As the situations bag more out of hand, the movie gets funnier.

Buy,Download, Or Stream It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! Click Here

I wasn’t that impressed the first time I saw this movie. But on repeated viewings with friends, I’ve near to devour it more. The actors are phenomenal and the material has a timelessly amusing quality to it. I’m young enough that I don’t see all the stars, but that doesn’t diminish my enjoyment at all.

I was aroused when I found out that the movie was coming to DVD, but I’ve got to say the final product disappointed me. I have only seen the “restored” VHS version that’s been out for years. This DVD goes succor to the current theatrical release and cuts out some of my accepted scenes. They are included in the deleted scenes fragment, but it’s a very poorly belief out part that makes it hard to catch what you want to gape. The DVD does include splendid narrate and sound, and I have always enjoyed the documentary included from the videos.

This is a classic movie that everyone should behold. However, if you’re a fan of the modern videos, be forewarned that this is not the entire movie you are obsolete to seeing. Hopefully, this movie will be reissued on DVD with this footage added aid.
